Duo Motum

Lucia Porcedda (Clarinet) and Federico Battista Melis (Piano)

Duo Motum, is a Clarinet and Piano duo with Lucia Porcedda on clarinet and Federico Battista Melis on piano. It was formed in 2016 at the Cagliari Conservatoire, where they both started their musical journey. Since then, they won prizes at National and International Competitions and performed in Concert Series in Italy, Switzerland, Sweden and the UK.

For the recital at The London Sketch Club, Lucia and Federico present a program that celebrates both the past and the present of the clarinet-piano repertoire.

Beginning with one of the most known Italian composers Gioacchino Rossini, the pieceIntroduzione, Tema e Variazioni showcases the clarinet’s virtuosity and operatic lyricism. We then turn to the short and elegant Sicilienne by Maria Theresa von Paradis and the rarely performed but wonderful pieces Chateaux en Espagne by Cécile Hartog and Deux Pièces by Clémence de Grandval. Finally, the Sonata by the living Sicilian composer Giuseppe Federico Senfett ends the recital, bringing a modern perspective on chamber music writing for clarinet and piano.
