For Sofia, music is more than just performance-it is a way to express and navigate emotions, a constant source of inspiration in daily life. She believes in the power of music to connect people and evoke deep feelings, and she strives to share this experience with audiences through her playing.
Sofia Berdnik was born in Russia and is currently in her third year of piano study at the Royal College of Music, London, where she is an RCM Somers-Mountfort Scholar supported by the Kenneth and Violet Scott Scholarship. She previously studied music at the Gnessin Moscow Special Music School and the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music.
Sofia has won prizes in numerous national and international competitions, including the Rotary International Music Competition. She participated in the International Forum of Pianists “Bieszczady bez Granic”, where she performed with the orchestra as a soloist in various cities around Poland, and also took part in a piano festival in Spain. Additionally, Sofia took part in the programmes of Vladimir Spivakov International Charitable Foundation, and performed at a number of concert halls in Moscow.
In addition, Sofia participates in projects at the Royal College of Music, frequently performing concerts and master classes. She enjoys playing solo and chamber music with violinists, flautists, and other instrumentalists. Her repertoire includes music from the Baroque to the 20th century. She also plays the harpsichord.
