British-Portuguese pianist Nuno Lucas has an international profile with performances across Portugal and the United Kingdom. His musical journey began in his native Portugal at the age of eight. Now a prize-winner in multiple national and international competitions, he has a reputation for engaging and colourful performances.
Nuno has won prizes in over fifteen national and international piano competitions, and upon graduation, Nuno received the Trevor Pugsley Prize for Piano, recognising his outstanding piano performance throughout his studies at the RWCMD.
Currently, Nuno is a PhD candidate in Musicology at the Royal College of Music, supported by a Doctoral Studentship from the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P. (FCT). His doctoral research is examining the textural relationships between pianistic and orchestral writing in the piano music of Sergei Prokofiev, with a particular focus on timbre and orchestration.
